O Christmas Tree

so many trees, so little time!

look at the trees over there!

this is it!

the finished product!
This weekend we finally got around to picking out our Christmas tree! Jake loved running around the tree lot and checking out all the trees. He also had tons of fun unpacking our Christmas boxes and throwing everything on the floor. Unfortunately, he didn't really get that the ornaments are not toys and they have to stay on the tree. I guess it's partially my fault for buying a Mater ornament for us this year (Mater is the tow truck from the movie Cars and is one of Jake's faves). He wanted to play with it, but it had to stay on the tree. We offered him his Mater toys but he refused. Tantrums and time outs ensued. Such is life with a 2 year old!

Jake is in the Christmas spirit (although he still mentions Halloween occasionally!) and talks about Santa and Christmas lights and even sings Jingle Bells! We have a countdown to Christmas on our chalkboard and he loves to say the numbers as we countdown each day. I can't believe Christmas is only 2 weeks away! We still have to take Jake to check out some Christmas light displays, and hopefully I will have a chance to do some Christmas baking...Christmas really snuck up on us this year!

Jake has been talking so, so much lately and he is cracking us up with the phrases he comes up with. The other night I told him good night and he said "see you soon!" Today he said "water is my favorite." We had a coffee cake for dessert tonight and he said "it's cake time!" When we are out to eat he likes to asks for "something else." He also likes to tell us "I right here!" just in case we were wondering :) He loves to sing his ABCs and does a pretty good job too. Next week we get to go visit Jake's preschool and show him around so that he is ready for his first day of school on January 3rd!
