With October half over, we still hadn't taken our little pumpkin to pick out his very own pumpkin...until yesterday. We told Jake we were taking him to the pumpkin patch and he got very excited! He knows all about the pumpkin patch from all of his Halloween books, and he couldn't wait to get there! It didn't disappoint. This farm has a huge Fall Festival every weekend in October, and this weekend happened to be "Antique Tractor Weekend!" Jake loved checking out the tractors, riding on the wagon, seeing the animals, climbing the haystacks, playing on the wooden "choo choo train," and picking out his pumpkin! We were the first ones on the wagon ride and Jake kept saying "all aboard!" while the rest of the families were boarding the wagon and throughout the ride! It was so cute. He had so much fun that he didn't want to leave. We literally had to drag him out of there. Maybe one day he will get over the kicking-and-screaming-when-he-doesn't-want-to-leave-somewhere-fun phase. We can only hope!
Despite the tantrum at the end, it was a fun family day at the pumpkin patch! We had a great time and are looking forward to carving the pumpkins we picked out yesterday :) With only 15 days left until Halloween, we are kicking our decorating into high gear. Our yard display is coming along, and Jake loves to talk to the witch and run through the graveyard! We are practicing his "trick or treat" and he knows that when he says that phrase on Halloween, he gets "candy!" Every time we go to a store with a Halloween display, Jake asks for "more Halloween" when it is out of sight. This year will be so much more fun now that Jake can walk and talk. Last year we had to push him around in his car and speak for him, but this year he will be able to walk up to houses on his own and say "trick-or-treat!" How exciting!
Our little guy has become such a talker lately. The other morning he said a complete sentence: "Where did Chloe go?" (Chloe is one of our cats) and it blew me away. He likes to sing a song from the Disney channel "all aboard the choo choo train" and he loves to say "read it again" when he wants to keep reading a book. He can say all of the pieces of play food in his kitchen by their correct names, and he likes to pretend to eat them :) His new favorite phrases are to say something is "right here" or "over there." He likes to pretend that his family and friends are on a choo choo train. If I say "Daddy's at work" he will say "Dada choo choo train." Pa Pa, Nana, me and some of Jake's friends have all been on this made up train. Today he said that Chloe was on a choo choo train! He also loves numbers and right now this is how he counts: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20." He is getting so big so quickly and it's so fun to think about what he will come up with next!
It's about time you got to a pumpkin patch! ;-) I love all Jake's Halloween attire. Oh, that "All Aboard the Choo-Choo Train" song gets stuck in my head, too. Our boys are growing up too quickly. :(
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool that Jake loves Halloween just as much as you do! Good luck with the rest of the decorations!
