After last week's great garage sale finds, I was excited to head out on Saturday to see what these sales had to offer. Unfortunately, there were"slim pickins" this week. I only came home with two things:
a small hamper for Jakey-size clothes for $3 (I intend to repaint it before it goes into his room), and yet another stuffed monkey for Jake's party for 50 cents. Last week's sales were a hit, and this Saturday's sales were a miss. You just never know.
Here is my little homie before nap time the other day. For those of you who say you've never seen Jake suck his thumb, here's the proof! As soon as he holds a stuffed animal, blanket, or really anything remotely soft, his thumb goes into his mouth. Also, when he is tired before nap time or bed time, he will lay down and say "night night" and suck his thumb. This is what he is doing here. And as soon as his head hits the crib, the thumb sucking begins. We tried to give him a binky (pacifier) when he was a newborn, but he never took to it. It just kept falling out. Eventually, we gave up. But, he started sucking his thumb before he was born (we saw him doing it on one if the ultrasounds!) It doesn't bother us, and we actually think it's pretty cute! I'm glad we don't have to worry about Jake crying in the middle of the night if his pacifier falls out (I have friends who have to get up several times a night to stick the pacifier back into their child's mouth) and I'm glad we don't have to worry about weaning him from a binky. Hopefully, he will just grow out of thumb sucking in the next few years, because eventually, it could mess up his teeth. But until his dentist tells us there is a problem, we don't mind his cute little habit. And as for the backwards hat - sometimes he just likes to wear it that way! If he wants to wear his hat inside the house, I usually turn it around so it is easier for him to see.
T minus 7 days until Jake's 2nd birthday! But who's counting? :)
