Last weekend we took a road trip up to NorCal for my cousin John's Confirmation. It was a long drive for such a short trip, but Jakey was a trooper. He did really well in the car, thanks to the car DVD player! He was cranky on the way back, but that was due to teething and a runny nose in addition to being cooped up in the car all day. We arrived on Friday afternoon, and had a great time hanging out with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins, and meeting their new doggie - Jakey loved the dog! Saturday morning was the confirmation, and Jakey didn't last too long in church. He just doesn't want to sit still for very long. And really, who can blame him? He had a good time at the party afterword though :) He loved the food, and the dog, and all of the toys my Aunt had saved from when her boys were little! Later that night he was unusually fussy and kept putting his finger in his mouth, so we assumed his mouth was hurting. On Sunday, he woke up with a runny nose, so I think it was a combination of teething and starting to get sick that made him so cranky! Poor guy. My Aunt and Uncle made us a great breakfast on Sunday morning, and then it was time to hit the road. We also brought my Nana and my cousin Joey with us, so it was a full car both ways! Unfortunately, I was sick all weekend (and still am!) but I had fun anyway. I just wish we could have stayed longer! Oh, and yes, we did put Jakey to bed in a pack 'n' play in our hotel room's bathroom again! Thanks again Aunt Deb for that BRILLIANT idea! That way, we can stay up past 8:30pm without keeping Jakey away, and he sleeps longer in the bathroom than he does at home because it is so dark (no windows)! Don't judge us.
Our little man has been extra adorable this week! He uttered his first two word phrase "up please", AND learned how to give real hugs (before he would just rest his head on your shoulder, now he actually squeezes you with his arms - so cute!) and kisses. Of course, my heart melts every time he does this!
Our friends Janice & Erik's twins turned 2 today! We are looking forward to Kyra & Dylan's 2nd birthday party on Sunday! The party is at the local farm where we bought all of the pumpkins for our wedding and for Jake's 1st birthday. It is a really fun place with tons of animals and tractor rides, etc., etc. This is the first time Jakey will get to go there since he learned to walk so he is going to have such a great time! I'll try to take tons of photos...
Looks like a successful trip! I like the picture where Joe and Jake are dressed alike. Joe just needs a blue vest! I can't believe how much older Jake looks. Where did your baby go? It all happens too quickly. Hope you're feeling better by now. We've had a cold, too, that just keeps lingering. Stay well!
